About Us
Wendy McLean is the owner of Split Rock Sustainable technologies. In 2006 Wendy began working as a renewable energy installer and has now worked on numerous solar, wind and micro-hydro installations and site assessments throughout BC in addition to studies in Colorado. Wendy has developed Split Rock Sustainable Technologies in association with Integrated Power Systems to supply high-quality renewable energy products and systems in Kamloops and south-central BC. Lars Jensen and the team at Integrated Power Systems of Kelowna has been providing clients with renewable and back-up energy products since 1994 throughout BC and internationally.
Wendy has a background in Physical Geography (SFU, 1988) and has been educating herself in sustainability most of her life. Wendy grew up on a horse and sheep farm in the Lower Fraser Valley and experiments in composting, landscape design and cycle commuting started in her youth. In 2005 Wendy began a systematic pursuit of study in renewable energy and natural and sustainable building, studying at Solar Energy International, College of the Rockies and at Selkirk College. In 2008 and 2009 Wendy also became certified and worked as a Home Energy Advisor, delivering the EcoEnergy and LiveSmart programs to homes in Vancouver, Kelowna and Kamloops for City Green Solutions.
Wendy has been an active volunteer with the Kamloops (and for a time, Kootenay) Chapter(s) of the BC Sustainable Energy Association since 2005. Wendy was part of the small determined Kamloops Chapter BCSEA team that proudly produced the first Kamloops Energy Fair.
